Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces lump crab meat, drained and flaked
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 1 egg, beaten (for sealing the wontons)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce, for dipping

Instructions:

  1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the flaked crab meat, softened cream cheese, chopped green onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean, flat surface. Place a teaspoon of the crab filling in the center of each wrapper.
  3. Using a pastry brush or your fingertip, brush a small amount of beaten egg around the edges of the wonton wrapper. This will act as a sealant when folding the wonton.
  4. Fold the wonton wrapper in half diagonally, creating a triangle. Press the edges firmly to seal the wonton, making sure there are no air pockets inside.
  5. Bring the two opposite corners of the triangle together and overlap them slightly. Press to seal, forming a small “pouch” shape.
  6. Repeat the process with the remaining wonton wrappers and filling until all the Crab Rangoons are assembled.
  7. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or a deep fryer to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
  8. Carefully add the filled wontons to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until the Crab Rangoon turn golden brown and crispy.
  9. Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried Crab Rangoon from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  10. Serve the hot and crispy Crab Rangoon with sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce for dipping.

Note: If you prefer a healthier alternative, you can bake the Crab Rangoon in a preheated oven at 375ยฐF (190ยฐC) for about 12-15 minutes until they are crispy and golden brown.
